Different ways to use a sketch

There are so many different sketches out there to use for card making, but what do you do once you've used the sketch? Of course you can use the sketch again, and change the paper, stamp, and embellishments making that one sketch a blueprint for endless cards. BUT . . . Have you ever thought of using that same template on different projects?

My first project is of course a card using my inspiration sketch. I used the adorable Best Friends stamp set from Clearly Besotted to create my card.

 

Next I took the same sketch and created a scrapbook layout. I used Comic Talk Stamp from Recollections. (Unfortunately its an older stamp that is no longer sold, but you might find it on ebay)

 

Finally the same sketched is used here to create a custom gift bag. The gift bag is just a plain white bag from the Dollar store, and I used Stampendous Woodland Friends stamp set to create a baby shower gift bag.

These are just a few of the ways you can use a sketch.  If you change the  paper and elements then you can use the same sketches again and again making the possibilities endless! So explore the possibilities!

10 Minute Cards: Spring Lamb Theme

Time for another 10 minute card! Since spring is here I decided that I wanted to use this adorable Wooly Spring stamp set by Darcie. He's adorable and easy to color.

10 Minute Cards : Mermaid

It's Friday and that means it's time for a new 10 minute card video! This week I was really loving the Doodlebug Under the Sea 6x6 paper pad so I decided that it would serve as my inspiration. I absolutely love all the patterns and the mermaids are really cute. I needed a super stinking adorable stamp to go with it so I chose My Favorite Things BB Mermazing!

This weeks card was based on this sketch

Card Measurements:

Purple Base: 4 1/2" x 6"

Mermaid pattern: 4" x 5 1/2"

Pink Polka Dot: 2"x 4 1/2"

Stripe: 2" x 3 1/2"

Purple circle base: 2 1/2"

White circle base: 2 1/4"

Little Chicks

Happy Monday morning! So you know those moments where you realize you forgot to make a card for a loved one? You suddenly look around to find a card and there is not one to be found! That is a weekly occurrence for me...LOL.

So my quick go to for such an occasion is to take a very simple sketch and do one nice technique with it to create a card. By doing this it shows you cared enough to create something fun and artsy, but the sketch is simple enough that you can quickly throw it together!

I wanted to try to use my Sweet Pop Stamp Set in a different way, so I decided to use the little cake pop chicks to create my card.

Here's the card I came up with!

To create my little chicks I stamped it with Brutus Monroe Zest Surface Ink.

I used Copics to color in my chick, and then went back over it with colored pencil. I used the pencil to make little lines to mimic hair.

Once I colored the images I glued them upside down to the back of the frame.

Once that was done I added foam tape to the back of the frame and glued it to the card front.

I added my sentiment and a tiny bling to complete it. It's a perfect card for any occasion. I try to keep these kind of cards around because you can personalize the inside of the card for birthdays, thank you, congrats, or a simple "Hello" card.

Sketchies: Set 1

I thought I would start sharing some of my favorite card sketches with you! So I'm starting off with 3 sketches, and one sample. I used a stamp set from one of my most favorite stamp companies....Simon Says Stamp! The stamp set is called "Love This", and I combined it with Echo Park Everyday Eclectic 6x6 paper pack.
