Sometime I get stuck in a color rut. It seems like I am always going to the same color scheme over and over again. So to help me get stuck I made a couple of quick color palette sample cards for my phone. I can use them to help spark my creativity!
You can use these in many different ways to kick start some creativity . For example:
I used my swatches to create a set of cards for a dear friend using an bright color palette. I loved the challenge of sticking to the color scheme and I loved using colors I don't normally use.
So I created this sticker set the other day and shared it and some crafty friends wanted to know how I did it....so, I made a video! Creating a sticker set is a great way to create your own embellishments for your scrapbook pages, cards, or even a great gift for a fellow crafter! You can use a few basic elements, and a stamp set to create something that looks store bought! Even better you can customize it anyway you like! Here are a couple of samples I have made, but for todays video I will be focusing on the Christmas set.
Cardstock - white and red Distress Ink - Fired Brick Red Stamp - My Favorite Things Santa's Elves, Jingle All the Way" Memento Black Ink Copic Markers - (E09,E11,E21,E01,RV23,RV21,R59,R37,RV29,R32,BG13,YG06,YG23,C2,Boo,B02,B05,BG10,E7,RV14) Patterned Paper Stamp packaging Adhesive Foam Tape Stickles - Crystal Ribbon Enamel Dots - Green
Using my Silhouette program I created a cutting file to use to create the set. You can use these photos to create your own file, but if you have a Silhouette the file is HERE. Download Die cut
If you don't have the ability to do use the file don't worry, print the black and white photo and create a template. You can also just create your own tags using circle, and rectangle cutting dies. Don't have the Elf cutting die? that's okay too! Just stamp him and then fussy cut him out!
Take your time and relax, and I hope this inspires you to create your own fun!
*The video is below, but because of technical difficulties I had to load it on an old account. To view my regular channel on YouTube, and to see other crafty videos please go here:
I'm having a great time playing with my new Silhouette! I wanted to try out these awesome cards from the Silhouette store. Love how intricate they are. I also used my blending samples to pick out a blend for the background.
I love how these colors turned out! Very Wintery! After I glued I put it behind the snowflake cut out, and added Stickles.
Don't worry if it pulls away a little bit from the wet Stickles. You can glue it down in the places that have lifted up once it's dry
I added a tag with my cute little Yeti and my wintery card is complete!
I wanted to make an underwater card so I thought I would try something totally different and paint my background instead of coloring it. I have never done an underwater painting , but I think it's important to push your self to try new things. I found a great video on YouTube by MuralJoe. I played it several times (paused and rewound it even more), and after 3 tries I came up with something I was happy with. I think I am even going to try it again!
For those who regularly check my blog, I would like to share why I have been absent. I recently had some health issues that required me to pull back and do less. This meant taking a small break from crafting...BOOOOOO....right? But I am slowly making my way back! Here are some fun cards that I hope inspire you to make some of your own! I can't wait to get back into sharing with you all ; )
Here's a card making my own patterned paper!
A cut out card with a picture message!
No line coloring to create a cartoon look!
And finally colored pencil on craft paper to create a colorful patterned paper!
Have a crafty weekend and check back soon for more crafting fun!

I had to share with you this wonderful class because it really helped me understand light and shadow, and how to get depth into my coloring. It takes no longer to color than I would have without the techniques. The time is the same, but the difference is in the order of which I do things, and how I use the colors has vastly improved for me! Just had to share!
I love stamping and card making, and I have to admit I rarely get a chance to scrapbook anymore. I recently sat down and challenged myself to create an entire layout using nothing more than a couple of stamp sets, and some cardstock. The challenge was so much fun, and the results were fantastic. It had me really wanting to do it again! Using stamps for scrapbooking is a great way to step outside your normal comfort zone, and really invent creative ways to make ribbons, embellishments, titles, or even background paper just from stamps.
For my sample I created a layout of me and my granddaughter having fun in a chemistry lab.
I also use There she Goes Cutie Pi Stamp set to create my background paper!
On page 2 I created similar embellishments, and used Copic Markers to color my stamps.
Take some time out for yourself today and challenge yourself to create a layout using only cardstock, and a favorite stamp set. I promise you won't be sorry you did, and you'll see just how much fun it can be!

For my first card I have to share with you this stunning Stampendous Snow Queen Rubber Stamp! I know I know it's summer. . . . so what better way to cool down than a snowflake card! LOL...okay that was cheesy, so I'll keep my comments to the cards. I really do love this image. Of course she could be an amazing frozen themed girl, but I wanted to change it up a bit so I colored her skin a beautiful tawny color and silky black hair.
Here are the instructions to make one of your own!
1) Start with white horizontal card. Stamp Stampendous Snowflake Sky Rubber Stamp using Distress Ink Salty Ocean. Use blending tool and Salty Ocean to add color to edges and a small amount to the center.
2) Stamp Stampendous Snow Queen onto Mixed Media White Paper using Memento Ink. Color with Chameleon Markers as shown, and use blending tool and Salty Ocean to add color to edges and a small amount around large snowflake. Glue to card as shown.
3) Stamp large snowflake onto Mixed Media White Paper and cut out. Color with Chameleon Markers as shown, foam tape on top of original snowflake. Stamp “Greetings” sentiment, and ink edges with Salty Ocean Distress Ink. Foam tape to card as shown.
4) Add Crystal Snow Glitter, and Silver Glass Glitter to corners. Heat set.
