Brutus Monroe Sentiment Blog Hop

We all have sentiment stamps right? We use them on every card to compliment another stamped image, but what about using them as a stand alone stamp?Just think of all the different cards you can make just by using your sentiment stamps!

For this weeks blog hop that's exactly what we are going to do! For my card I chose to use the "Happy Birthday" sentiment from the

Super Sentimental stamp set.

I used my Distress Ink Oxides in a rainbow of colors to repeatedly stamp my sentiment to make this super fast 10 minute card.
Then I stamped, and embossed the sentiment on black paper, and thew on some bling! Done! You can make this colorful card focusing on sentiments in a matter of minutes!

Father's Day Card

It's Fathers Day weekend! I have always wanted to have a stamp that's more geared towards the technology or computer geek dad, so . . .  I made one! LOL. I designed this stamp for the amazing Brutus|Monroe company and I made sure to add lots of geeky sentiments and graphics.

My husband is software developer so I thought that this set would make the perfect Fathers Day card.

I stamped the computer and then masked it. I used Distress Inks to add color to the background, and then stamped a graph pattered on top. Then I colored it with Copics!

 I hope you all have a wonderful Fathers Day weekend and I hope this set inspires you to make your own tech card!

Re-Boot Stamp Blog Hop

Re-boot stamp set is here! Finally a set set that accurately reflects the people in my life. We are a tribe of nerds! It's so hard to find images when you've got friends or family in your life who's hobby is technology, and that's why we are so excited about this set!

It's got all the things you need from happy keys, computer virus sentiments and even some texting fun.  Re-Boot has 9 graphics, and 9 sentiments! I decided I need a texting phone tag card(say that 3 times fast) LOL

 

OF COURSE it had to be a SHAKER CARD!

I used Glossy Accents to make my phone case shiny!

and of course a sentiment inside!

I AM SO EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE  . . .

I AM STARTING MY OWN STAMP COMPANY! 

Called

I will be producing my own stamp lines! They will include 4 x 8 Stamp Sets, 2 x 3 Stamps, and coordinating Stencils! They will all be sold through the company as well as Brutus Monroe! This is really a dream come true and I couldn't be more excited!!!

They will release the middle of July and will include some of my Digi Stamps only reworked a bit to add more goodies to them.

 

I am so happy to be heading out on this adventure, and even more happy that my crafty friends get to come along for the ride!

Gamer Nerd Stamp Brutus Monroe Blog Hop

I am really excited about this new release! It's my Gamer Stamp Set for Brutus Monroe! I have a family of gamers, and I myself love video games so it's always really hard to find a fun gamer themed stamp.

I was so excited I decided to make 3 cards.  I really wanted to challenge myself and create 3 simple, streamline cards. Believe it or not simple cards are really hard for me...LOL. I am kind of the more is more camp!

 For my first card I create a background using the 8 bit heart stamp. I colored it with different shades of red, and then to soften it I applied a piece of vellum over the top. Then for a POP of color I added the heart in turquoise. The of course I had to use my favorite sentiment from the stamp set "I love you so much I would pause my game for you"

(Anyone who has a gamer in their family gets this joke LOL)

 

For my next card I wanted to make it really clean and simple. I also stamped my sentiment inside the screen before I colored it.  I stamped the mini game unit a couple of times in black ink and then used foam tape to glue the colored version on top of the stamped one. I love how it's the only focal point on the card.

 

For my last card I wanted to do something really fun. I stamped a background using the circles and Versamark Ink. I embossed using Brutus|Monroe Ultra Fine Raven Embossing Powder. Then I placed a piece of Black Deco Foil on top, and ran it through my laminator. This gave it a really great shine.

 

Last I colored each symbol in red, yellow, green and blue. I added a sentiment using Raven and Alabaster embossing powder, and repeated the circle pattern on the green paper using Versamark.

My Favorite Brutus Monroe Product Hop

This weeks blog hop the design team got free reign! We got to choose our favorite Brutus|Monroe products! Of course stamps are my all time fav but I decided to choose another product instead. I chose their yummy embossing powders! I created this card using just a sentiment stamp and some embossing powders. These powders are wax additive free.  The embossing powder melts quickly, and gives a nice even coverage which really makes the embossed image pop!

Brutus|Monroe Stamp Set Rock On

This is such a fun technique and I really love doing it because it feels like your just doing some sort of experiment! You add HEAPS of embossing powder to your paper and heat it from underneath the paper. It takes awhile but eventually it will start to melt and then you have this giant swirled puddle of melted powder. You should have your stamp standing by inked with Versamark ink, gently press in and then leave for a minute until the powder has started to cool.

 

Once you pull out the stamp you are left with an impression in the puddle of powder! I used a alcohol marker to fill in my impressed sentiment.

 

 

I love how all the embossing powders swirl together and the rainbow powder adds a little sparkle!

Karen Burniston and Brutus Monroe Blog Hop

 

 This week's Brutus Monroe Blog Hop is so exciting because we are teaming up with Karen Burniston and her FABULOUS cutting dies! They have all kinds of incredible 3D dies! Their wafer-thin metal crafting dies are compatible with most major die cutting machines. They are innovative, cutting edge die sets will take your paper crafting to new heights. 

For my card I used the Twist Panel Pop Up Die Set.

I had to pair it with my new favorite stamp Dragon Kisses from Brutus Monroe!

The incredibly fun part of this die set is that it makes a fun card that when you open the card the panels twist and spread out! It creates such a fun interactive card!

It's a Viking and dragon themed stamp set that I am so excited about. I wanted to draw my Viking as a powerful curvaceous beautiful Viking Warrior!! I hope you all love it, and I can't wait to see what everyone makes with it. For this card I wanted to go ALL OUT, so I made a 3D box card.

I even made a fake viking rune stone for the front!

 

Here's the inside!

Let me show you how I made it!

Take a 12x12 cardstock and score it at 4" and 8", turn and repeat. Cut four corners out. Fold and glue two side together to form scene area. 

Stamp viking and dragon and color. Cut out and set aside.

Here's what used for the beach and ocean

Start with Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink

Add some spots of vintage Photo Distress Ink

Use a stencil brush and Vintage photo Oxide Ink (not pictured because I grabbed the wrong one for the pic) and add some sand texture by dabbing just a little bit of ink
Add Tumbled Glass Distress Ink.

This color over the sand color is what gives the illusion of water over sand.

Add Broken China Oxide Distress Ink

Add Faded Jeans Oxide Distress Ink in stripes. Blend softly. Then go back over dark edges using the Broken China blending tool

Use white gel pen to add squiggly lines. the squiggly the better!

Here's what I used for the clouds

Next I used my cloud stencil to create my clouds. I started by adding a tiny bit of Abandon Coral to the bottom of the clouds and then added White pigment ink to the cloud stencil

Lastly score a 12x12 cardstock, same as above. Cut side squares out leaving 1/4 strip on 2 opposing sides. 

Trim each end 2" so sides measure 4"x 2"


Fold tabs and glue tiny tabs to secure lid.
Take pieces and decorate inside of box as shown.

 Here is the viking ship I used. I printed it on brown cardstock, cut it out, and glued it together.
(I couldn't find the source of who made this so If you know please leave in the comments so I can give proper credit)

 For the outside of the box I used alcohol Inks on glossy paper to make a wood grain, then stamped it with an old chipped paint stamp set to give it a little weathering. I then used some foam craft sheets to make a fake rock and carved a viking rune into it!

Fast & easy bohemian card with foil fun!

Today I thought I would keep it easy and simple. I created the card background from a digital pattern I created, and I have posted it down below as a freebie. Feel free to create your own card using the pattern. So sit back, relax and see what some paper and foil can create.

This week I am focusing on Deco Foil and Deco Foil Transfer Gel to create a shiny underwater card! I used the Mermaid Lagoon Stamp set from Brutus|Monroe as well as some of their mermaid goodness!

I already used Distress Oxide Inks in Mermaid Lagoon and Mowed lawn to create a colored background for this technique. Here's what you'll need to make the rest of background:

Brutus|Monroe Tangled Waves Stencil

DecoFoil Transfer Gel

Removable Tape (I use medical tape)

DecoFoil in Jade

 

Tape the Stencil down

Evenly spread gel over stencil

Remove stencil and tape and let it completely dry. For me it took 3 hours.

You will know when it is done because it will turn clear when it is dry.

Next I placed my foil over the top and ran it through my laminator. Then Ta-Da perfect shiny gorgeousness! If you don't have one I found mine on Amazon for only $19.00! You can find it HERE
