I thought I would make a post for my bakery and tell you a bit about me! I have been a stay-at-home Mom for over 30 years and have always LOVED baking. I love pairing interesting flavors together and creating new treats, but mostly I love feeding people! I am a typical Grandma in that way. I am married to the love of my life and my best friend. He is the most incredible husband a girl could ask for.
I am allergic to wheat so everything I make is Gluten free. I have gone to great lengths to work on my treats, so they don't have that typical gluten free grainy texture. I hope that when you enjoy them you truly have no idea that they are gluten free! While I don't have regular flour in my home, I can't claim to be a Celiac safe kitchen since other family members eat snacks with wheat.
I currently am disabled, and I am caring for my husband who is dying and has a terminal genetic illness called Huntington's disease. We don't qualify for any care providing and I don't qualify for insurance. I can't leave my husband's side to work because I can't work full time due to my rare disorders (nor do I want to because I want to be by his side). I need to earn money for our care & medical bills, so I thought a bakery! Why not! I will only be able to bake a couple times a week and recover the rest of the days, but it brings me joy and hopefully some needed income.
I know this is all deeply personal for a bakery sign, but one thing we have learned while on this journey of dealing with a terminal diagnosis is that if you are honest people genuinely care and want to help. So, when you buy a treat from MeeMah please know you are helping to give us a hand up and helping us to add a little bit more medical care to our lives to make things easier.
Thank you so very much for taking the time to get to know us, and for purchasing some baked goods.
We are incredibly grateful for you.
