Craft Studio Finished!

I finally did it! I finished my craft studio! I am so excited to finally be organized and done! I have a few small tweaks I want to work on but for now, things are put away and labeled. I was wanting to have a basic white and grey backdrop so all the colorful art and creations would be the thing that stands out.

So I have a twin bed in my studio for 2 reasons . . . Just in case one of my friends or family needs to stay over, but mostly because I have a 3 rare diseases and some days I need to do work from bed on my bad days.

On my desk I have my 6x6 paper pads organized. 

 

I have all my stamps organized in these great clear refrigerator organizer bins, and I cut up plastic folders for the dividers. I organize them by company and place each stamp set in clear envelopes.

Super excited it's done because it was a 6-month process to get it organized! Also small disclosure . . . This studio did not happen overnight. If you find yourself thinking about how can she afford all that stuff, let me tell you that it didn't come easy or fast but rather it was 20 years of hard work in the crafting industry designing and working with many different companies. It takes time to accumulate supplies and many were given in exchange for work that I had done for those companies.

Even if you have a small box of supplies, carve out a little space for yourself somewhere. You work hard and you deserve to have a spot where you can relax and take a moment to recharge with a little creativity.

Now . . . I am off to mess up that pretty room!

Rainbows, Glitter and Smiles

In case you haven't been told today . . . Remember to smile!
Even though days can be tough lately with all we have to face, we are in this together and we will make it through this together. So Smile! It increases your serotonin, makes others happy, and increases your face value! LOL


I wanted to make a card that was nothing more than something that would bring a smile to your face and what's happier than rainbows, and glitter? I used my Donut Sprinkles stencil to create this gorgeous dripping rainbow and used ink blending with Distress Inks 

Picked Raspberry

Carved Pumpkin

Mustard Seed

Twisted Citron

Salty Ocean

Wilted Violet

to create the background. I used Gina K masking paper to mask the bottom half of the card to create my dripping effect.

Then I added Gina K Silver Glitter Glitz gel to create glitter sprinkles!

 

Just look at how the Glitter Glitz Gel catches the light! It's so sparkly I CAN'T STAND IT!

Dollar Tree Halloween Craft

I don't know about you but I love a good Dollar Tree craft project! It's so satisfying to take something inexpensive and turn it into something really fun. I found this shaker frame at the Dollar Tree and thought it was perfect to create a Halloween Decor item. Of course, I forgot to take a picture of the frame before, but luckily I found this picture on the internet to show you what it looked like before. The only difference is mine was filled with orange sequins and had a different phrase on it. 

The great part about these little frames is that with a little fingernail polish remover you can take the saying right off! Then you can decorate your shadow box however you like! After I took my saying off I painted my frame black and glued on some tiny embellishments to the corners. 

Then I took the back off and inserted my favorite Halloween card using Sassy and Crafty's Let's Dress Up stamp set. Instant decoration and I can look at this every year and remember the memory associated with this card!

Simple Colorful Cards

My Mom absolutely adores simple colorful cards. It is always her number one request when she asks me to please restock her supply of handmade cards. I love making them because sometimes you want to make a few quick and simple cards that allow you to play with color and technique. Stencils are perfect for that! You can break out the inks, a bunch of stencils, and your favorite sentiment stamps and you've got yourself a set of great cards!

I used some of my favorites to create a few simple colorful cards using just those basic supplies I listed above.

I wanted them to be bold and bright without being a ton of work. For this first card I used a brayer on a Gel plate and Distress Inks in Mustard Seed, Abandon Coral, and Seedless Preserves over my Sassy & Crafty Droplet Stencil to create my background. I used Sassy & Crafty Happy Everything sentiment to complete the card.

 

My most favorite stencil recently is this Awesome Stars stencil! It's so versatile!!! You can make so much with it. (I even did a 3 part cardmaking video series with it and you can find Video 1 on my channel here)
I used Distress inks in Twisted Citrone, Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean, and Wilted Violet to blend over my stencil and then cut it at an angle for my background. I paired it with a purple tone on tone paper and a Happy Birthday sentiment from CTMH.



So I am a rainbow fanatic and I think a rainbow card would make anyone smile, right? I lightly blended Distress Inks in Picked Raspberry, Carved Pumpkin, Mustard Seed, Twisted Citron, Salty Ocean, and Wilted Violet on my white cardstock. Next, I used my Alte New Bubble Wrap stencil and heavily re-applied the inks to create my pattern. I used Sassy & Crafty A Huge Thanks sentiment stamp set for my sentiment.

Since I had a strip leftover from my rainbow paper I thought I would use it to make this darker card using the same Alte New Bubble Wrap stencil. I loved how it turned out! I used Hero Art white pigment ink over the stencil onto black paper and then lined up my rainbow strip so it matched. 

I used Sassy & Crafty Happy Everything sentiment for my Happy Birthday! I had so much fun making them and the best part is with just a few elements, you can use these same supplies to create multiple cards. I know Mom will love them and will be asking for more in about another week. That's what happens when you are your family's personal Hallmark store! LOL

 

Buttons Galore and More Collaboration Day 2

It's Day 2 of the collaboration with Sassy & Crafty and Buttons Galore and more!

I found this great shadow box frame at the Dollar Tree and knew it would be perfect for a shaker themed Halloween Decor frame. Phew . . . Say that 3 times fast!
First I created my orange and black mat by blending Black Soot Distress Ink over our totally cool Spider Stencil. Then I glued it to the mat that came with the frame and cut away the unwanted paper as well as the holes.


I used our Wicked Good Friends stamp set for my flying monkey, and I created the background by masking a die-cut circle and blending Weathered Wood & Shaded Lilac Distress Ink over the circle. Once that was done I drew a tree with my Copic 100 marker.  


I stamped my flying monkey with Momento Black ink and then colored it with my Copic markers. (E41, W3,W5, W7, B79) Then I fussy cut him out and foam taped him on to the scene. Next, I stamped the Sassy Girls - Spooky phrase and blended Weathered Wood Distress Ink over the image. I assembled the frame and poured in that amazing pack of  Creepy Sparkletz mix with it's spiders and pumkins !

Buttons Galore and More Collaboration

I cannot state this clearly enough . . .
I AM A BUTTON FREAK!
I LOVE buttons! All buttons, frankly it's a problem but I am learning to not acquire so many. . . and then I ignore that and go to the Buttons Galore and more website LOL! I just love buttons and what they add to a project, and I especially love the way Buttons Galore and more have added buttons and sequin mixes together, how fun!!! For this super fun collaboration, I wanted to think outside the card. I found this fun little mini cloche at Dollar Tree and thought it was perfect to create my own Ghost in a Jar Halloween decor. First I painted the bottom of the cloche with flat black acrylic paint, and once it was dry I drilled a small hole in the center. I used a mirror stamping technique to stamp my ghosts from the All about the Boo's stamp set, and then colored them with Copic markers. Once they were cut out I foam taped them back to back with a skewer in the center.

I placed the skewer in the hole in the center of the bottom. I tipped the top of the container upside down and filled it with my button mix, and then popped the bottom on and turned it right-side up. Finally, I added my "Boo-ya" statement to the piece and I was done!


Don't you just love that Candy Corn embellishment mix? It's so yummy! I am sure you can see why I had to just leave it as is!
