Wednesday blog hop day is quickly becoming my favorite day! Don't you just love seeing several different samples for one product? Even if one designers look might not be the look you are drawn to you can always pick up a new technique, a different way to use embellishments, or even color combination ideas! Inspiration can come in many different forms, and these weekly product blog hops are a great way to kick start your creativity.
Todays stamp set is near and dear to my heart for two reasons. . . 1 I drew it so that makes me happy to see my work printed as stamps, and 2 I LOVE CAKE POPS! I ignore the calories because they are so good and darn it I'm worth it! lol
Anyway back to the stamps! I was inspire to make a few cards so I will be sharing 2 today and 1 tomorrow.
My first one I created as a watercolor. I stamped my cake pops using a masking technique so the images would appear layered. Next I used a watercolor brush, a cup of water, and my Akashiya Watercolor Brush Pens and just colored the images and used water to pull the color across the paper. It's totally easy and a very forgiving medium.
My second card is a no line coloring technique on the bunny butt cupcake. Yep, you heard me right Bunny Butt Cupcake because who doesn't want a fluffy bunny bottom sticking out of their cupcake! LOL
Supplies I used:
Brutus|Monroe Sweet Pops Stamp
Brutus|Monroe White Embossing Powder
Brutus|Monroe Surface Ink Envy
Brutus|Monroe Surface Ink Zest
Brutus|Monroe Surface Ink Hayride
Doodlebug tone on tone papers 6x6 paper
Lawn Fawn Perfectly Plaid 6x6 paper
Dazzle white lace borders
Vellum
Yellow Polka Dot ribbon (Michaels)
Light Blue Polka Dot Buttons
I started by stamping some of my images in Fog ink, and then made a mask with the post it tape. I placed each mask over the images as I stamped until I created a small scene.
Next I used my Envy, Zest, and Hayride inks and my blending tools to add some color. Be sure to work gently so you don't pull off the masks that are protecting your images.
I wanted to add some more pattern so I took the sentiment stamp "Sugar High" and stamped the background using Fog ink.
Once my colors were blended I cut out my circle, and then peeled off my masks!
Time to color! I used a no line coloring technique for this image.
If you have never tried it before you can check out an entire week I did on no line coloring. I hope it will be helpful to you:
Please keep hopping and check out more fun and exciting techniques here:
