Welcome to another fun week of Brutus|Monroe blog hopping! This week we are taking a look at mixed media projects. I have to be honest here, this is where I struggle. I am horrible at the mixed media thing. It takes me 3 times as long to complete a mixed media project...LOL. For some reason I just can't see it completed! BUT . . . I will say all the experimenting with different mediums is super fun!
Since I tend to lean towards the cartoonist side of art I chose this Be Unique Stamp Set to create my mixed media project.
Supplies:
Surafce Ink:
Chipboard Shapes
First I stamped and colored my images on marker paper, and then masked my colored images and used my Brutus|Monroe inks to add ink to the background. Then I peeled off my mask and glued my colored image to the canvas. Once that was done I used Stencils, and paste to add some texture to the canvas. I added some globs (totally made up word) to the canvas and pushed my chipboard shapes into it.
(*Some of my chipboard was different colors, colored buttons, metal pieces. None of this matters because you will paint it all white when dried*)
Once the paste was dried I added a coat of white gesso to coat all my chipboard pieces. Once that was dried I used my ink blending tool and my inks to add color! The final step was spritzing a little Cornflower surface spray onto the canvas, and I added the word Friends onto transparency to complete the look.
When it comes to mixed media it's all about experimentation, and just letting go of the rules! You can not mess it up, I promise!
Have fun and give it a try!
Here are the rest of the projects for today:

I really love the blue background and your use of the surface spray! The characters really bring it to life! Thanks for sharing!
