It's Day 2 of this week of masking techniques and I can't wait to share the next one because it is my absolute favorite! Before I begin if you are new to masking and stamping there is a quick and easy tutorial HERE . Feel free to check it out, and rejoin me when you're done.
Masking your stamped images to create fun backgrounds surrounding your images is a NEVER ENDING source of creativity and fun! You can use different images to create a pattern, use words that coordinate with your stamped image, and so much more! Okay, I may be getting a little out of hand about it, but you guys . . . I seriously love it.
Well that's just enough talking about it, let's dive in and get right to it!
For my project I will be using:
Cardstock
Inkadinkado Stamp Masking Paper
Brutus Monroe:
Raven Detail Ink , Surface Ink in Sea , Speckled Egg , Locomotion
Stamp your image onto white cardstock. Then stamp again onto a piece of masking paper.
(If you are not sure about how to do this you can find a photo tutorial HERE )
Cut out image from masking paper, and place on top of cardstock.
Next use the Mini Ink Tools and Surface Ink in Sea , Speckled Egg , and Locomotion to create blended background. Start by applying a little Locomotion ink to your pad and lightly rubbing onto the paper in a circular motion. Repeat this with Sea, and Speckled Egg Inks until no white paper is showing. (REMEMBER: Press lightly and increase your pressure to get the amount of color you want). Repeat these steps again going over the colors in the exact same order you did the first time until you get the look you want.
Next Stamp your word stamp over the background using Raven Detail Ink.
Peel off your masking paper to reveal!
Now it's time to color!
Finally use your work of art to create a card! I added glittered embossing paste stars with the mixed media stencil, and bottle cap sequins!
Don't you just love the way that colorful background just POPS? The best part is not only have you created a cute card, but you have essentially created your own piece of patterned paper!
Be sure to check in everyday this week to see a new masking technique!
Spunk Rock Crafting . . . reminding you
to take time out for you because you're worth it,
there are no mistakes only embellishment opportunities,
and to keep it Spunky & Fun ; )
