I have a great little set of sample strips for my Distress Inks. They show what the colors look like stamped 3 times, stamped with water, 2nd generation stamping, and even tone on tone. I love them and use them all the time.
You can get your own blank set at Simon Says Stamp HERE.
So when I was putting together different blends one day I thought "Hey, wouldn't it be great to have this same keychain sample for my Distress Ink blends!" So I decided to make myself a set!
On the back of each blend is a list of what colors I used and the order I used to create it.
When it was all done I placed it on a ring and I can continue adding to it as I create new ones. I've made blended backgrounds before and then weeks later go to recreate it only to forget exactly which ones I used. This makes it so easy!
It was really nice to use it to create this simple card. I love this one blend of Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry, and Broken China. When it blends together it create a beautiful purple.
Then I place a Tim Holtz stencil over it and pounced(do not rub) white pigment ink on to it.
This will take awhile to dry. After it's dry I created this cute little card using C.C.Designs Kissy Smoochy Stamp set!
I think these blending sample will also be really great as a way to determine watercolor blends when using my Distress Inks as watercolors. If you would like to create your own blends simply cut white cardstock into 1 1/4" x 4 1/4" strips. Use blending tools and inks to add color. Print the blend samples and cut, and adhere to back of corresponding sample!
I found a blog that does some pretty cool ink blends as well. Be sure to check her out!
