Check out this fun watercolor technique video using Distress Stains featuring Shari Carroll!
If you don't own Distress Stain, and you only have Distress Inks I thought I would show you how to get the same look using your Distress Inks. You need a few colors, white paper, background stamp, and a water spritz bottle.
Ink up your stamp starting with lightest color first. Followed by medium and darkest color. Use the very edge of the ink pad to get into smaller areas of your background stamp, this way you don't have boxes of color on your stamp. When you have the colors where you want them, spritz with water.
There should be enough water where the surface is evenly covered, but not dripping wet.
(TIP: mist the water about 6inches away from the stamp moving back and forth across as you spray)
Press your paper on top gently. Move fingers across gently and quickly. If it sits on the stamp too long it will tend to bleed. After I quickly stamp on my first piece, I throw on a second piece of paper so I can get a second lighter image. This one I press firmly. This way you can two card backgrounds.
Next I did a coordinating gray plaid paper, my white embossing border and phrase, added ribbon and a flower with a rhinestone. Now what will I do for the second card? Don't forget to leave comments with links where I can see what you made! I'll pick from the top three, post them on my blog and send each three a surprise present!
