I think the coolest trend in card making has been creating your own backgrounds. There are several artist who create their own and make some pretty cool tutorials about it. I thought I would share a few cards I have made as well as some of my favorite tutorials. The first is a fun Polar Bear background tutorial by Sandy Allnock.
I really enjoyed this tutorial because it was really easy and quick, but the results were fantastic. Here's my version:
Next is a really awesome desert scene! I loved the card Sandy Allnock made using an adorable Paper Smooches stamp set. I used Llama Love stamp set from My Favorite Things for my desert scene. I like versitle these tutorials are, and how any of these backgrounds can be used with any stamp sets.
Here is my card:
Lastly here is one that I created on my own. With a little masking paper and an adventurous spirit you can create on of your own as well!
I used My Favorite Things Oh Christmas Tree Stamp Set, and Santa's Elves Stamp Set. I stamp my main image, and then stamp and cut a mask to put over him.
Next I stamped some trees and made a mask, so I could stamp a little elf peeking out from behind.
I added a hill shaped mask to the background and started stamping with my tree stamp for a base for my trees.
Next I peeled off my masks and used some Copics to add some flicks of various green colors to create my trees.
And then a Sky . . .
And Finally I colored the rest of my image.
I added a sentiment, snow with a white pen, red sequins and of course Stickles!
I've shared with you just a few videos by Sandy Allnock, but she has many many more!
There are also a ton of other talented artist who have created fun tutorials for creating your own backgrounds! You can see my Pinterest board
