It's been forever since my last post, but I do have a fantastic excuse ! I was one of the many women involved in putting together our church Relief Society Birthday Celebration. The theme was Mad Hatter Tea Party, and our talk was the many hats that women wear. I primarily was assigned to help with decorations ( HELLO, MY FAVORITE PART ! ). I so ran with it : )
I took a look at still shots of "Alice in Wonderland" on the Internet, and found all the inspiration I needed. Our budget was under $30.00 for decorations, so I knew it was mostly going to have to be handmade. I sketch out ideas for the tables . . . flowers that stood up on the tables that had little faces, upside down pocket watches, confetti, tea pots, and for above the table . . .colorful Chinese lanterns. For a little something extra I sketched and painted characters from the movie on to posterboard. So with 2 weeks of hard work and just 4 ladies to help, the five of us cranked out all the handmade decorations. When it came time to decorate for the party, we had a great turnout to help set up. These woman are phenomenal ! They donated their time to decorate, cook the food, and put on a wonderful talk and skit. All the hard work was so worth seeing how special they all felt when they walked into our Mad Hatter Tea Party. Many of them said they felt so honored to have had all that effort put out just for them. That is music to my ears . . . .
